A recent Sierra Sun article highlighted the successes of Truckee River Watershed Council’s $2.85 million restoration project in Euer Valley. The project, which was completed late Fall of 2025, revitalized 30 acres of meadow habitat in Euer Valley “while creating infrastructure designed to allow recreation and ecosystem health to coexist in one of the area’s most beloved open spaces.”

Euer Valley’s well-loved meadows and waterways reflects a long legacy of industrial logging and cattle grazing, resulting in degraded meadows, rerouted waterways, and reduced climate resilience. While not without its challenges – project director Eben Swain joked that he “had never built a bridge before — and… never need[s] to build one again,” – the project will reverse much of this damage while protecting the area from the impacts of its many recreational uses.
