by Kathy Whitlow, Operations Manager

We want to let you know about an open RFP from our partner, Truckee Donner Land Trust (Land Trust):

The Truckee Donner Land Trust (Land Trust) seeks to hire a consultant to complete a restoration design plan and assist with trail design for the Elizabethtown Meadow Trail and Drainage Restoration Project. The Truckee River Watershed Council is a formal partner with the Land Trust on the project and will participate in all project reviews.

The Elizabethtown parcel is located on the east side of Highway 267 and was acquired in 2011 by the Land Trust for conservation and recreation. Prior to acquisition, access roads were constructed to enable development of the property, but were not maintained, resulting in increased sediment erosion to Middle Martis Creek. The Elizabethtown parcel provides recreational linkage between Northstar and Waddle Ranch. Project activities are expected to include the following:

  • Restoration of road/stream crossings;
  • Restore natural flow from springs across Elizabethtown meadow;
  • Partial or complete removal of access road segments;
  • Conversion of access road segments to single track trail;
  • Constructing new trail segments to connect Elizabethtown parcel to existing trail networks.

Please see the Elizabethtown Meadow Trail and Drainage Restoration Request for Proposals dated June 4, 2013 [link removed] for more information. Proposals are due electronically by 5 PM on June 20 to the Truckee Donner Land Trust. For more information, please contact John Svahn at the Truckee Donner Land Trust at (530) 582-4711 or john@tdlandtrust.org.
