THANK YOU  to our wonderful Adopt a Stream Truckee River Aquatic Monitors (TRAM) volunteers!  We just completed our 13th TRAM field season with last Saturday’s field collection. Over the summer, volunteers monitored 5 streams – collecting Benthic macroinvertebrates (BMIs), which include aquatic insects and other types of organisms, as well as assessing physical habitat. The types of aquatic organisms found in a stream are strong indicators of water quality. View the most recent annual monitoring data report on our Documents page.

What’s next? Our TRAM group will be analyzing the data over the course of the winter, starting in November. During these lab sessions twice per month, volunteers sort and identify the macroinvertebrates and record the findings. We welcome experienced TRAM volunteers as well as newcomers – come join us!
