One of the most effective ways we can protect the Truckee River, our meadows and wetlands from climate change is to restore their ecological function. We know that healthy, diverse river systems are be better able to withstand rapid swings in precipitation when their hydrology, soils and vegetation are fully functioning. Then the river and streams can be resilient in the process of change.
Human beings are like this. We are better able to respond to rapid life changes when we are emotionally, physically and mentally healthy. We are most resilient when we are most fully functioning.
