A new Challenge Gift for 2013 was announced at the annual River Breakfast on May 29, 2013. It is a matching gift of $42,000 a year for the next 5 years! Generous donors will match DOLLAR for DOLLAR every new pledge to join the Together for the Truckee Society in 2013. These are pledges of $1,000 or more a year for 5 years. We gratefully thank the following Challenge Gift donors for their amazing gifts:

    • Anonymous
    • Debbie and Michael Hogan
    • The Martis Fund
    • Northstar California / Vail Resorts Echo
    • Tahoe Mountain Resorts Environmental Fund
    • Cathy and Tom Van Berkem

These donors hope their challenge gift inspires you to support the work of the Truckee River Watershed Council by joining the Together for the Truckee Society. Middle Martis Creek restored! Negro Canyon repaired! Water that is drink-able, swim-able, fish-able! Don’t miss this opportunity to double the impact of your contribution through 2017.

Together for the Truckee Society – Options for Giving:

Restore a Stream: $1,000 each year for five years. This is our first giving level in the Society because $1,000 is approximately the initial cost of planning and implementing one restoration project for Truckee River Day. At this level, you will help us finish one of these restoration projects in each of the next five years.

Protect the River: $5,000 a year for five years. Donors giving at this level will expand our capacity to work with partners and fund more complex restoration projects. Your $5,000 contribution leverages tens of thousands of dollars on projects like Negro Canyon and Sagehen Creek.

Preserve the Watershed: $10,000 a year for five years. If you’re part of a company or foundation, or just in a position to give more, a gift at this level lets you have a far-ranging impact on the health of the watershed. “Preserve the Watershed” funds will be put to work on a landscape-scale, tackling some of the largest of the watershed’s wounds like bringing back the meadows at Middle Martis Creek, and repairing the tributaries and wetlands of Donner Lake.

As always, we appreciate whatever you are able to give, whether in pledge form sustained over time or as a single donation. We are grateful for all contributions. Whether you share funds, time and talents or simply spread the word about the mission of the Watershed Council, it all makes a huge difference for the watershed!
