Directions: Take HWY 89 between Truckee and Tahoe City. Turn at the Squaw Valley turn off, which is well marked. Follow the road “Squaw Peak Road” up to the resort area. Look for the fire station on the right and we will meet right in front of the fire station for you convenience and then go and park at the actual trailhead. The trail follows Shirley Creek up about 2.5 miles to Shirley Lake passing gorgeous waterfalls and canyon boulders
Free, informative and dog-friendly. Hike 3.6 miles through alpine meadows past waterfalls and wild flowers to Shirley Lake. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring at least 2 liters of water and snacks.
