Aquatic Monitoring Field Collection

Aquatic insects are an excellent indicator of stream health.  Our aquatic monitoring program assesses the condition of local streams by collecting insects along with other water quality and habitat information.  Join us for a monitoring day!

Come prepared to get in the water!  You will need to walk across rough ground to get to the stream and complete the monitoring.   You will need to wade in and across streams to complete the monitoring.

We need a minimum of 5 volunteers to complete the monitoring protocol, so please RSVP by August 24.

Each monitoring date will be confirmed via e-mail the day before.  Meeting location varies by date, so contact Beth if you are interested in participating.

2017 Monitoring dates:

  • Saturday, July 29: 9 AM – 1 PM
  • Saturday, August 12: 9 AM – 1 PM
  • Wednesday, August 23: 5 PM – 7:30 PM
  • Saturday, August 26: 9 AM – 1 PM
  • Saturday, September 9: 9 AM – 1 PM (backup date)

All dates subject to change due to stream flows and volunteer participation.

The Truckee River Watershed Council (TRWC) seeks an experienced Development Director to lead our philanthropic strategy and strengthen long-term funding for watershed restoration across the region.

This senior role is ideal for a proven fundraising leader who excels in major gifts, donor strategy, and board partnership, and who is ready to help shape the next phase of TRWC’s organizational growth.
