Love the River? Come work with us! We are currently looking for great candidates to work with us at the Truckee River Watershed Council as Conservation Assistants and Direct Contact Associates for our River-Friendly Landscaping program. Here are the details regarding these two opportunities. Please feel free to share!
Conservation Assistant (1-2 openings)
This employee position begins in April, 2013 and ends by November 30, 2013 (with possible extension based on weather). The application deadline is 3/15/13.
The Conservation Assistant (CA) is the primary contact with the property owners participating in our River-Friendly Landscaping program from initial contact to implementation of recommended measures. The CA completes site assessments, makes recommendations for possible erosion control measures, creates the Treatment Workbook for the property owner, and coordinates with consultants to incorporate professional recommendations into the report. The CA also assists the property owner by providing a list of contractors, verifying ongoing and completed work and helping to facilitate a potential rebate.
If you have education and/or experience working in a related field such as soil science, resource management, or environmental sciences, submit your application today!
Direct Contact Associate (1-2 openings)
This independent contractor position runs from May through July, 2013. The application deadline is 3/15/13.
As a Direct Contact Associate, you'll be promoting our River-Friendly Landscaping program by canvasing targeted neighborhoods and explaining the program directly to the property owners, obtaining contact information from the owners, making referrals to the Conservation Assistants to schedule site evaluations and tracking the properties visited and the owner's response.
The River-Friendly Landscaping program improves water quality by assisting residential property owners in voluntarily reducing or preventing soil erosion from residential neighborhoods in the Truckee River watershed located in the Town of Truckee, portions of Placer County and portions of Nevada County.
