16th Annual Truckee River Day

Registration is now closed for Truckee River Day – but we can still use your help!

Full Day Projects – 9 AM to 2:30 PM

If you would like to volunteer for a morning project, please come to Granite Flat campground at 8:30 AM.  Granite Flat is located 1 mile south of Truckee on Highway 89.  We will register you and give you directions to a work location.  Come prepared for a day of work – bring sunscreen, water bottle, sun hat, layered clothing, work gloves, lunch, wear sturdy shoes, and bring a rake, shovel or rock bar if you can.

Half Day Projects – 11 AM to 2:30 PM

If you would like to volunteer for a half day project, please come to Granite Flat campground at 10:30 AM.  Granite Flat is located 1 mile south of Truckee on Highway 89.  We will register you and give you directions to a work location.  Come prepared for a day of work – bring sunscreen, water bottle, sun hat, layered clothing, work gloves, lunch, wear sturdy shoes, and bring rubber boots or waders if you can.

 

Morning – Restoration Projects at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Join us for a day of river, meadow and wetland restoration.  You will be near streams and meadows, working side-by-side with other volunteers to plant restoration sites with seedlings and willows, remove invasive vegetation, compost and mulch sensitive areas, remove garbage and more.  Projects start at either 9:00am or 11:00am and end at approximately 3:00pm.

Afternoon – River Fair from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Join us at the River Fair to celebrate the Truckee River!

  • Granite Flat Campground on Highway 89 South, approximately 1 mile south of Truckee.
  • Family-friendly ~ live music and entertainment ~ local food ~ environmental education activities ~ art projects ~ Lahontan cutthroat trout release
  • The Lahontan cutthroat trout release is fun for all ages.  Please bring a clean pail or bucket to carry the fish to the Truckee River.
